7 Unexplained Abandoned Mysteries

#1 Abandoned Ghost Ship Mystery

This Coastal Patrol Yacht, named ‘Circle Line V’ was built in 1902 in Wilmington, Delaware. It launched that year and was sold and converted several times over the next 80 years. In 1984, the ship was found here in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on the Ohio River.

No one knows why !!!

#2 Sherman Tank at Invasion Beach, Saipan

The Battle of Saipan was a battle during World War II that occurred on the island of Saipan in July of 1944. The fleet that invaded left Pearl Harbor. We know why the tank is near the island, but we don’t quite know why it is SO far off the island.

This tank is mysteriously about 300 full meters off of the island, and its home underneath the water has never fully been explained.

#3 Abandoned ships in the desert that was once the Aral Sea

The ships that have been abandoned in the desert are explained by the fact that they once floated upon the Aral Sea. They now lay in a desert, which gives ample reasoning to why they’re there. The mystery, though, is why the ocean so quickly dried up and turned to desert?

The shrinking of the Aral Sea has been called “one of the planet’s worst environmental disasters” and its disappearance has invoked much local climate change.

#4 The Ancient Sunken City of Alexandria, Egypt

Lost for over 1600 years, this fabled city known as Alexandria was lost to humanity. Fascinating and mysterious statues can be found here, which of course, are all underwater.

Archeologists believe that this area became flooded and put underwater by a series of earthquakes and tsunamis. What do you believe?

#5 Yonaguni Monument, Japan

The strangest thing about Yonaguni Monument, found in Japan, is how little we actually know about it. There is actually an ongoing debate between archaeologists even WHAT this monument is. Some question whether it is completely natural, a natural site that has been modified, or is simply a human-made artifact.

The site was discovered in 1997 and is a very popular attraction for divers from all over the world.

#6 The Pod City of San Zhi, Taiwan

The “Pod City” that is found in San Zhi, Taiwan was originally supposed to be a luxury vacation resort. It was built in 1978, and abandoned in 1980 before anyone had stayed there.

Many theories exist as to why this is the case, ranging from economic reasons to the more mysterious – some say this place is haunted.

#7 Berchtesgaden National Park Shack

Found in Berchtesgaden National Park in Germany, this lonely shack in a mountain lake can easily be explained by the fact that it’s a boat shed. The walkway though, has gone mysteriously missing. Its abandonment has never fully been explained.
