Wife helps man rape neighbor !

A 32-year-old IT employee was arrested by the Malkajgiri police on Friday for allegedly raping a 24-year-old married woman in his house, with the assistance of his own wife, a month ago.

According to L.C.

Naik, Malkajgiri inspector, on October 14, the victim had approached the police and recorded her statement. She had said that Kattama Raju, the accused, who works for an IT company in the city, raped her.

The accused stays with his wife Usharani and two children, while the victim resides with her husband and a threeyear-old kid in the same apartment complex.

The victim alleged that about a month ago, she had gone to attend a function at Raju's house.

There, Usharani had laced her drink with sedatives. When she fell unconscious, she was taken into the room and raped by Raju, while Usharani bolted the door from outside.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim and her husband on October 14, a rape case has been registered and investigation is on. While Kattama Raju was arrested on Friday, his wife is absconding.

Raju was sent to the judicial custody .

Petitioner submitted that the opening of retail vending shop and bar near NMS complex at Red Hills will cause immense hardship and nuisance to students and public.

The Madras high court on Friday restrained Tasmac from opening its retail vending shop and bar near NMS complex on GNT Road at Red Hills.

A division bench comprising Justices T. Mathivanan and K.B.K.

Vasuki granted interim injunction for two weeks and ordered notice to the state government and Tasmac on a public interest litigation from A. Liyahath Ali of Red Hills.

Shankar submitted that in NMS complex on GNT Road at Red Hills there was a centre giving training to disabled children, a dance school and another centre for teaching music to school going children.

A church and a ration shop were situated nearby, besides a computer training centre, in which more than 300

students were studying.

Moreover, school and college students assemble there for boarding buses. Tasmac was taking steps to open its retail vending shop near the NMS complex.

If Tasmac was permitted to open its retail vending shop there, it will cause immense hardship and nuisance to students and public, Shankar added.

The govt plans to open elite Tasmac outlets at shopping malls across city to increase revenue from liquor sales.
